What is Factoring?

Cash flow is an essential element for the survival and growth of any business. Cash flow may be inhibited by the amount of funds tied up in the Debtors Ledger whether due to slow payment or due to growth in sales.

Factoring provides a cost effective method of releasing the funds tied up in unpaid sales invoices.

Ulster Factors can provide a prepayment of up to 80% of the value of
credit sales invoices on presentation. This is in effectan open ended
cash facility with the upper limit determined by the clients ability to
provide goods or services to credit worthy customers. The balance
less costs becomes available to the client on payment of the debt by
the customer.

In many small to medium sized businesses the function of credit control / accounts collection is carried out by management or sales representatives who would be better concentrating their efforts on other aspects of the business. At Ulster Factors we provide a full factoring and sales ledger administration service. The client provides us with the invoices which we mail to the clients customers and pursue the collection of the accounts on the due date.

The client does not lose contact with his customers. Sales are sought by the client in the normal way and the Factor might be regarded as would a member of the accounting staff carrying out the credit control function.
